Nice!

This song started out really fast pased and intense which was really cool.

The lead guitar is really cool. I enjoyed the melody being played and the chords worked with it really well. The solo is amazing and sounds really cool. you guys have alot of talent.

The percussion is really solid as well and manages to sound really good while not being overpowering or annoying. The only problem I had with it was that it sounded mucky and not very solid sounding on the intro at 00:07.

The main issue I have with this is the lenght. It's too short and doesn't allow the song to live up to it's full potential!

This song is great. It reminds me of the days when rock was good and I would listen to that instead of what I usually listen to nowdays.(Mostly Trance and DnB) Good Job.

Ultramartyr responds:

Well the song was meant to be kept short, as it is an intro track. The guitar tone has been upgraded since this track was released and we'll re-record it to get a better mix.

Thanks!

I like it.

This works really well as background music. It's enjoyable and memorable, but it manages to avoid being distrcting as well.

One thing that I think really helps this piece is the instrumentation. you chose instruments that all work well together and you provided decent variation with each one.

One thing I don't like too much is a lack of a main melody that stands out (in a good way). There is a melody that is repeated throughout, but it does reallystand out to me as much as it could. I see no reason to subtract points from this though since really strong melodies that stand out are more of a personal preference and what you have still works really well.

The percussion is really good here too. You have steady beats that support the song and help its overall feel. I also like your choice of percussion instruments. The way you change (percussion) instruments at the right time to help whatever is going on in the rest of the song really well.

The last thing I want to mention is how it loops. It isn't bad, but it could be better. Seamless loops are something that is really important invideo game music and you were so close here.

Overall, good video game background music with good balance between the percussion and other instruments. I'm impressed.

thanks for comment, shrimpchris. Notes about looping and main melody taken. Thanks for helping me improve \m/

Pretty relaxing.

While there isn't much variation in the song, it still manages to not be very repetitive. That's a pretty good thing of course.

I like the drum beats and I don't really think they're THAT loud compared the rest of the song, but I guess they are a little loud. They are really good though, I like the minor variations in the beat as the song goes along and they really support the rest of the song.

The vocals are really cool. I can't tell what they're saying, but they work and they help the song get across a more relaxing feel overall. Good job on those.

About the songs genre, I agree that it's not really hip hop, I think that the closest genre would definitely be ambient.

Overall, good job. A few minor issues, but nothing too noticeable.

BuggMusic responds:

Hmmm, maybe I will keep the vocals then. I think I'll swap this to Ambient as well. Thanks for the review!

Glad to be reviewing another one of your songs..

This song is great. It really does a good job of being ambient while still avoiding being repetative or boring. The progression and variation in instruments really helps that.

One of the best things here (IMO) is the violin. It just has an amazing melody and that upwardpitch shift... I love it! The trumpet is pretty cool as well. Also, how did you add the "scratchy" sounds to the violin?

Honestly, I can't think of much (or anything, really) negative to say and I already mentioned the best parts (again, IMO), so I'll just leave you myscore and be on my way. Good song.

Also, I like the ending.

ChineseCommando responds:

Haha, that "violin" is actually an erhu, a Chinese two-stringed instrument and the scratchy sound comes with it. The erhu solo was a loop, as was everything else in the song, because--as mentioned below--this was before I upgraded my program to include new and better synths, so making loops was all I could do. Thanks for the review!

I love this song.

Hey, I going to start off by saying that I submitted this to the Review Request Club since I thought you deserved some more attention brought to you music. Now that that's out if the way, on to the actual review.

I like the combination of instruments you used here, they would seem to be a little
mis-matched, but actually work really well together and give a unique sound to this song.

There is one thing that bugs me though. Even though this song is kind of long, it feels really short. I'm gonna agree with Coop and say that a tad more variation would really help.

Overall, an amazing, yet over-looked song that deserves more views. I love your music, hope you keep making more!.

Thanks, Chris!

Pretty good dubstep.

I've always said that the only Dubstep I like is LoZ or Pony related and this stuff is why. I dislike most Dubstep, But this stuff is simply amazing!

One thing that's really cool about this is that it starts out like a classical song , but then it transitions into Dubstep really well.

You were right about this having a good bass drop. The first one raped my ears just a tad, but it sounded cool. I also love how the second drop carries a lot of melody with it, which actually makes his so much better.

The ending was good too, but I personally think that the song should've had some Morendo at the end, but that's kind a personal preference.

Anyways, great, epic sounding song. Good job.

This sounds pretty cool!

I love the feel presented in this song. Really serene, yet mysterious and even somewhat ominous at times.

Actually, this song reminds me a lot of Bejeweled 2. I used to play that game for hours on end and never got tired of the soundtrack. Thanks for that nostalgia brick to the face. Ow.

The song sounds kind of fitting for an ice level with lots of exploration. It really has a good feel to it. Actually, It also reminds me of Banjo-Tooie.

I can't think of much else to say or anything to criticize, so 'll shut up now. Great song!

BenTibbetts responds:

Thanks very much. :)

Cool

I really like the feel you've got going here, intense, but with a break or 2 and some excellent rythms behind the melodies.

I just reviewed "A Deep Breath" and I think this song just complements both songs really well listening to them back-to-back.

If you read my review there, you'll know that I came up with a basic story that ends before a boss fight. I think that this song would work as a great boss theme for the first phase of that boss.

Actually, do you mind if I use this for that purpoe if I make that idea into a game?

Great piece, I'll look at you other stuff when I get a chance.

Thanks for the review, man!

Chilling *shivers slightly*

I like the feel presented in this song. it's amazing.

I personally feel like this song would fit a person trapped all alone in a frozen cave wandering around as he is overcome by a cold breeze. An ominous breeze...

He is scared and worried he'll never escape as dangers become a greater possibility every time he turns a corner.

He finds a valuable weapon of unknown origin. He picks it up and wonders "How can I use this? Can I use this?" He tries it out and learns more about how it works.

As he continues his search, he eventually makes his way to a huge icy chamber. The only way out is sealed up as he cautiously approaches.

Suddenly, a huge creature fades in from out of nowhere and silently observes the actions of our wanderer. The creature strikes and the man pulls out his mysterious weapon. The fight is on.

Great piece, I don't know why I wrote the preceding story, it just kind of came to me. Hey, I think I have a basic idea for my TGF 2 contest entry. Thanks, you mind it I use this BTW?

lazy-dave responds:

Wow I love these reviews! I'm glad you enjoyed it so much, and I can definitely see how you got this picture and story. Your story kinda reminds of the ice dungeon from Majora's Mask lol. Of course you can use it, that's why it's up here, thanks for asking tho ;) Thanks for the review I appreciate it, and I'm glad you enjoyed it so much!

Almost ear rape, but not quite. ;)

Like I said almost ear rape.

This is because, as most people said, the bass is WAY too heavy. I like it at times, but it kind of hurts my ears more often than not.

I do like that melody at the beginning (and the other one at 1:55), but it is quickly drowned out and I can barely hear it to begin with.

Wath this song needs is lowered volume on alot of the bass parts, better melodies, more melody, more percussion, dynamics, and a break around the middle with alot less bass and possibly a slow, chilling melody backed up with minor chords and a tad bit of that "Dubstep sound" if you know what I mean.

Not the worst song ever, but I'd like it if you could revisit this while taking my suggestions onto consideration.

Just some shithead.
