Damn, this would be amazing BGM.

This song is really good. Like everyone else has said, it has an adventrous feel to it.

The name is really fitting. It has that icy feel to it that would work well in some cave or ice level. I hope someone actually puts this in a flash game.

The melody is good, but I like the bouncy sounds that jump from ear to ear most. It makes we want to look in the direction of the sound really bad. Kind of annoying, but it definitely shows that you accomplished something with them, right?

I know that I'm supposed to critique anything that's not good about things, but I don't really have a problem with anything, so... Yeah...

Overall, really good and true to the 8-bit genre. Love it. Hope to hear more.

(Fuck, I could not form actual paragraphs for this review. Sorry bro.)

SuperBastard responds:

Thanks for the review man!

I'm stoked that you thought it was that good. I hope someone uses it in a game too.

Sounds kind of dark.

There are happy parts for sure, but they only really come from the Windwaker songs. Still though, dark isn't bad. I think you did a really good job on this.

The big thing here is how well the songs all flow together. The different songs all transition into each other really well. I especially that transition into the Gerudo Valley theme.

One thing that bugged me is how fast the first five or so songs flew by. There just wasn't enough glory given to them. That being said though, they all still work very well together in the beginning, so no harm done.

The ending... Uhhg... Not bad, but it just cuts off too soon, leaving the song feeling incomplete. I feel like it's going to keep going and then it stops. That's my only real problem with this.

Back on the bright side, I think the instrumentation is really well done. You always chose the best instrument for each part, which really helped this song.

Overall, great interpretation of many tunes from one of the first video game series I ever played that really captured and combined the emotions of each tune into an epic song.

Horsenwelles responds:

i'd be lying if i didn't hear the rushed pace of the first 5, but i was more concerned about finishing the song and getting all the parts just right lol.

as for the ending, i thought it fell perfectly in place, with a heavy bass hit that concluded the piece without too much cinematic anticipation. but remember, there will be more with this soon ;)

again, thank you for your input!!!

I love your music.

Well, now that I've said that, time for the actual review.

The first thing I noticed right off the bat was how calm and happy this made me feel. It fits the title for the most part.

The guitar that comes in about a third of the way through carries a nice melody and, I don't know how you'll feel about me saying this, but it makes me imagine Rainbow Dash helping Scootaloo learn to fly. I know this isn't really a pony song, but I just had to say that.

Anyways, another great thing about this is the way instruments kind of layer as the song progresses and really gives it a nice flow.

I know reviews are supposed to haave things you can improve, but I don't really have anything negative to say. This is just a great song with a calm, happy feel to it.

Also, this isn't relevent to this song, but I still want to write lyrics to your song "Universe" eventually. I might not have time until summer break, but I do want to do that someday. You know, this song could use lyrics too...

Stargenx responds:

Thanks for the review! I'm glad you like my music. xD
It was made to make me calm and happy, so I hope that it makes everyone else calm and happy.

Wow.

This is amazing. I love how it has such an epic feel.

The main (probably only) problem I have with this is that I wouldn't really classify this as a Heavy Metal song. It seems more like it would fit as Classic Rock or General rock. I'm not gonna take away points for that though. (It seems like that would be obvious, but I've seen people be assholes by subtracting points from a songs score because they didn't agree with the genre it was classified as)

Anyways, this is, like I said, amazing. The guitar sounds nice and it is backed nicely with piano(?) melodies which sound amazing together.

One thing that is cool about this song is that it works perfectly without vocals and with very little percussion, but at the same time I can imagine both in my head while listening. I should write and sing vocals for this someday if I get a better mic.

Overall, I love it, but I don't really think that this is heavy metal. Eh, good job.

Stargenx responds:

Thanks for the review! Like I said earlier, dunno where else to put the song. I'd like to hear your vocals someday. ^^

Pretty good.

I don't think I've heard the original, but this sounds amazing.

The beat/percussion is great. There's decent variation within it and they are always in appropriate spots. That being said, I would've liked to hear just a little more percussion in here.

The synths sound really nice. I love them. They sound cool and they all play amazing melodies and sub melodies etc. Did you make them or did you get them some where? (Should I just Google trance synths?)

Another thing about this song is its build. It builds up nicely and has amazing breaks throughout it that always pick up at the perfect time. :D

Overall, I really like the song and I hope you post more stuff for us to review!

<Review Request Club>

Actually, I might have heard the original before... This does sound a little familiar and I some how knew it was gonna be a Trance song when I clicked it... Meh.

ZexusOfficial responds:

thanks for the review!
Yes, I make all of my own synths.
They aren't anything special.
I'm glad they work so well, though. (:

The original is in the description.
Check it out. c;

Damn, this is great. I'm not even sure where to start my review...

The strings were amazing. I liked the way they all had there own different parts and they all fit together perfectly like a puzzle. How many different tracks did you have for the strings? Just wondering.

The percussion... Oh Celestia, the percussion. The drums just make the song. Like I said, the strings were amazing, but the percussion just, like I said, makes the song. The beats are all perfect and fit in exactly where they belong changing up the feel of the song so much from modt classical while not actually changing the genre. What percussion samples do you use? I need percussion samples like this. The ones I have kind of suck...

The feel that the song gets across almost sounds industrial or a quite a bit like steam punk. I really like it. Alot.

This sog is perfect as an Octavia battle theme. I'd even say that this is way up there with No Strings Attached by JeffTheStrider. Seriously.

Overall, It's amazing and I can't find any flaws. Good job.

TheBellmaker responds:

Thanks for the review! Funny thing is I used to get hammered for my shoddy percussion all the time. I was actually quite reluctant to write this piece but it seems it turned out very well.

To answer your question, I googled "drum and bass samples" and the first result has a lot of them available for download.

Thank you very much for the review!

Nice!

This song started out really fast pased and intense which was really cool.

The lead guitar is really cool. I enjoyed the melody being played and the chords worked with it really well. The solo is amazing and sounds really cool. you guys have alot of talent.

The percussion is really solid as well and manages to sound really good while not being overpowering or annoying. The only problem I had with it was that it sounded mucky and not very solid sounding on the intro at 00:07.

The main issue I have with this is the lenght. It's too short and doesn't allow the song to live up to it's full potential!

This song is great. It reminds me of the days when rock was good and I would listen to that instead of what I usually listen to nowdays.(Mostly Trance and DnB) Good Job.

Ultramartyr responds:

Well the song was meant to be kept short, as it is an intro track. The guitar tone has been upgraded since this track was released and we'll re-record it to get a better mix.

Thanks!

I like it.

This works really well as background music. It's enjoyable and memorable, but it manages to avoid being distrcting as well.

One thing that I think really helps this piece is the instrumentation. you chose instruments that all work well together and you provided decent variation with each one.

One thing I don't like too much is a lack of a main melody that stands out (in a good way). There is a melody that is repeated throughout, but it does reallystand out to me as much as it could. I see no reason to subtract points from this though since really strong melodies that stand out are more of a personal preference and what you have still works really well.

The percussion is really good here too. You have steady beats that support the song and help its overall feel. I also like your choice of percussion instruments. The way you change (percussion) instruments at the right time to help whatever is going on in the rest of the song really well.

The last thing I want to mention is how it loops. It isn't bad, but it could be better. Seamless loops are something that is really important invideo game music and you were so close here.

Overall, good video game background music with good balance between the percussion and other instruments. I'm impressed.

eatmeatleet responds:

thanks for comment, shrimpchris. Notes about looping and main melody taken. Thanks for helping me improve \m/

Pretty relaxing.

While there isn't much variation in the song, it still manages to not be very repetitive. That's a pretty good thing of course.

I like the drum beats and I don't really think they're THAT loud compared the rest of the song, but I guess they are a little loud. They are really good though, I like the minor variations in the beat as the song goes along and they really support the rest of the song.

The vocals are really cool. I can't tell what they're saying, but they work and they help the song get across a more relaxing feel overall. Good job on those.

About the songs genre, I agree that it's not really hip hop, I think that the closest genre would definitely be ambient.

Overall, good job. A few minor issues, but nothing too noticeable.

<Review Request Club>

BuggMusic responds:

Hmmm, maybe I will keep the vocals then. I think I'll swap this to Ambient as well. Thanks for the review!

Glad to be reviewing another one of your songs..

This song is great. It really does a good job of being ambient while still avoiding being repetative or boring. The progression and variation in instruments really helps that.

One of the best things here (IMO) is the violin. It just has an amazing melody and that upwardpitch shift... I love it! The trumpet is pretty cool as well. Also, how did you add the "scratchy" sounds to the violin?

Honestly, I can't think of much (or anything, really) negative to say and I already mentioned the best parts (again, IMO), so I'll just leave you myscore and be on my way. Good song.

<Review Request Club>

Also, I like the ending.

ChineseCommando responds:

Haha, that "violin" is actually an erhu, a Chinese two-stringed instrument and the scratchy sound comes with it. The erhu solo was a loop, as was everything else in the song, because--as mentioned below--this was before I upgraded my program to include new and better synths, so making loops was all I could do. Thanks for the review!

Just some shithead.
